PAPATYA - shelter for girls and young
women of turkish origin
PAPATYA, an anonymous crisis and transitional center was founded in 1986.
PAPATYA offers protection and help to girls and young women who have fled from home as a result of familiy conflicts. The offer is open to young women and girls from Turkey, but also other countries with similar cultural background.
As a team of turkish,
kurdish and german social workers and a psychologist we care for
the girls around the clock. PAPATYA takes in girls aged 13-18 and
older in individual cases. Admission into the crisis center occurs
according to § 42 KJHG. The girls can stay for a transitional
period of up to two month, for longer in individual cases.

What does PAPATYA off
We support girls in the confrontation with their parents
We attempt to provide constant care and advice befitting the individual case
The main focus of our work is on mediating between the conflicting parties and supporting the girls in planning their future.
Working with the youth authorities and other institutions, we with the girls help, look for solutions that are acceptable to them. This could mean returning to their parents or other relatives, being placed in a home or a flat sharing community in Berlin or outside Berlin, if necessary.
A teacher takes care of the girls' education concerns and teaches them, if for safety reasons they are unable to attend school.
